Welcome & Introduction
Your experience begins at the Kolibri Door, where I’ll personally welcome you and provide an introduction to Finca Flora. I’ll share the farm’s history, the unique geographical and ecological characteristics of the area, and how we implement sustainable agroforestry principles. This is your chance to understand the context of tropical farming and the philosophy behind our methods before exploring the land.
Guided Walk Through the Finca
We’ll take a leisurely walk through the one-hectare finca, which is fully flat with clean, easy-to-navigate paths. As we move, you’ll experience the farm through all your senses—seeing the lush greenery, touching leaves and fruits, smelling aromatic herbs, and tasting edible plants directly from their natural environment. You’ll also discover glass and ceramic mosaic artworks thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, highlighting the intersection of art, nature, and sustainable agriculture.
Coconut Palm Focus
During the walk, we’ll pause for an in-depth discussion of the coconut palm, exploring its growth stages, harvesting methods, and diverse uses within tropical agroforestry.
Fruit Tasting & Cacao Experience (Final 30 Minutes)
We conclude in our stunning stained-glass gazebo by the pond, where we host a guided fruit tasting. You’ll sample 10–15 exotic and seasonal fruits, including monkeyhead, guanábana, custard apple, starfruit, borojo, vanilla and more. Fruits are sourced directly from the finca or from nearby partner farms, ensuring variety and freshness. During this session, I will also explain cacao processing and offer a few locally made Panamanian chocolates to taste. You’ll learn tasting techniques, explore flavors and textures, and see how fruits are used in local cuisine.
Rainy Day Friendly & Seasonal Highlights
This experience is perfect for Bocas del Toro’s rainy days, offering nature lovers an engaging, hands-on alternative when beach trips are not the best options. Every visit is unique, as seasonal and rare fruits vary throughout the year. This immersive activity combines education, tasting, and exploration to provide a memorable experience for all ages and interests.
